WORLD PRESS FOTO EN MADRID // WORLD PRESS PHOTO IN MADRID

The Círculo of Bellas Artes in Madrid has the privilege to host the photo exhibition of more than 5,000 professionals that took part in the World Press Photo competition.

World Press Photo is a non-lucrative foundation which was formed in Amsterdam back in 1955 with the aim of supporting the work of professional photo journalists.
This competition, in which a panel of 19 international judges chooses a winner from amongst the thousands of photos sent in from all over the world, is organized every year.

In contrast to other more pleasing photo festivals and contests out there, the World Press Photo competition is a stronger cup of tea where the most impressive and sometimes shocking images pervade.
This year the wining photograph is the one called “Signal”, which outstands among all the pictures. The wining picture depicts a group of African immigrants with their mobile phones in their hands held up high to the sky in Yibuti looking for coverage in order to get in touch with their families.

The exhibition is open from until 12 October. Don’t miss it! We would like to know which of the photographs of this contest is your favorite one. Share it with us here.
