Sorolla y Estados Unidos || Sorolla and the United States

A través de la exposición «Sorolla y América» la Fundación Mapfre nos da la oportunidad de disfrutar la experiencia americana de Sorolla. Se trata de una muestra de las obras que Sorolla pintó durante su actividad en Estados Unidos inéditas en España. En ella por primera vez en España han reunido las obras de Sorolla procedentes de importantes instituciones americanas como la Hispanic Society of America y el Metropolitan Museum of Art de Nueva York.

Sus obras llenas de luz, increíbles escenas de playa, patios y jardines verdes enamoraron el público americano de forma inmediata. La pintura en lienzo «Saliendo del Baño» fue la obra que mayor éxito cosechó en EEUU y además fue adquerida para la Hispanic Society of America por 5000 dólares. Sus obras pasaron por ciudades americanas como Boston, Buffalo, San Louis y Chicago. El éxito de su trabajo fue absolutamente arrollador, ya que el público americano se identificó profundamente con el optimismo y la fuerza que trasmiten las obras de Sorolla. 

La muestra, organizada por el Museo Meadows (Dallas), el Museo de Arte de San Diego y la Fundación Mapfre, ha llegado a España hace poco después de recorrer parte de Estados Unidos y se podrá visitar hasta al 4 de enero de 2015. No os lo perdáis!

The Mapfre Fundation offers you to enjoy the American experience through the exhibition «Sorolla and America». The works, so far unknown in Spain, at this exhibition are Sorolla's paintings he painted during his stay in the United States. At this exhibition you can find paintings of Sorolla that have been gathered from important American institutions like the Hispanic Society of America and the Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York for the first time in Spain.

The American audience immediately fell in love with Sorolla´s works full of light, depicting amazing beach landscapes, green patios and gardens. The most successful painting in the USA titled «Leaving the Bath» was acquired for the considerable sum of 5000 dollars for the  Hispanic Society of America.

His works were exhibited in American cities like Boston, Buffalo, San Louis and Chicago. Sorolla´s work achieved an overwhelming victory since the American audience self-identified with the optimism of the paintings and the power that these paintings transmit. 

The exhibition, which is being organized by the Meadows Museum (Dallas), the Museum of Art (San Diego) and the Mapfre Fundation, arrived to Spain just short after it ended its tour in the USA. The exhibition is on until January 4, 2015 in the Mapfre Fundation. Do not miss it!
